John's Common Sense Beliefs about
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

de Beck strives to protect taxpayers hard earned dollars. He opposed ignoring California Public Contract Code requirements for building schools. The board majority voted to do so which resulted in the loss of two years of school repairs, costly litigation, and bid overruns in excess of 45% in the first two summers of Proposition MM.

de Beck opposes (and votes against) exorbitant costs of imported out of state consultants and junkets for district employees including the District Institute for Learning leadership.

de Beck wants central office administration reductions to be used for classroom instruction, not increased school site administration. (Recent cuts have just moved administrators out to the schools, NOT reduced their numbers!)

de Beck believes that site fiscal decisions are more appropriate than central office mandates, particularly for instructional support personnel and materials.
